Enrtyway

This month, I went to the Pacific Northwest.  I attended the first Quilt!'Stitch!Knit! conference, held in Portland Oregon.  Afterwards, I visited with friends in Bremerton, WA, and took a quick trip into Victoria, BC.  My pictures are still being organized.

When I arrived home, a newly painted front door greeted me.
It's plum, and goes very nicely with the house paint, which is a very grayed shade of turquoise.

The plum is picked up by the Tradescantia (Wandering Jew? Moses in a Boat?)  in the pot by the door.

A new doormat, and the entryway will look really good for such a small space.

Pillowcase Dresses

At a recent meeting, one of the ladies in my quilt guild showed some pillowcase dresses that she had made with extra fabric.  She said that they would be sent to African orphans through the Little Dresses for Africa project.

So I made a half dozen, but sent one to my sweet great-granddaughter first.

Two of the dresses were actual handmade pillowcases that I wasn't using.  Two others were made from fabric that one of my former girl scouts gave me during the cleaning out of her mother's storage shed.  Two others were made with "free table" fabric from the guild.  I think it is a good use for leftover fabric.

Special Olympics Scarf

This was an easy, relaxing way to put some spare yarn into use and hopefully put a smile on someone's face.

The Texas Special Olympics Scarf Project is looking for 3000 scarves in green or blue.

Guidelines are on

Little Landscapes

I love the little landscapes that are hanging in the bathroom of the retreat house in Stonewall. SOMEWHERE, I have a picture of them, but I can't find them.

Recently, I tried to do some similar work. They were ok, but I wasn't satisfied.

This are my initial attempts.

The last time I went there, I took them and my paints along.  I worked on them and feel much better about them.

Several of the ladies would have gladly bought them, in fact, but I wasn't sure that they were finished.

I'm thinking they may be done.

Sign from Lizz

My great niece Lizz has gone into business with her crafts.  This is the sign that I had her make for me.

Here it is on my storage closet door.
